SIH
USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES TO ASSESS WATER REUSE POTENTIAL
The SIH Project is based on the use of digital technologies to assess the reuse potential of water in a target entity after its use by industrial processes, also collaborating in the creation, organisation, and advancement of reuse partnerships with companies and public entities.
In the industrial sector there are processes that involve use and pollution of water, which are led to discharge by companies (consumption-use-discharge model). This model can be transformed by current water reclamation technologies, creating a new circular model that leads water from use to reclamation processes and then the other way round, and implementing concepts such as circular economy, responsible water uses or adaptation to climate change and water scarcity.
Water flows will be governed by a “reuse intelligence” that, through a Digital Water Twin (“DWT”) of the target entity, will allow knowing water flows and pollutant loads at each point of the DWT, taking them to the regeneration processes and reusing them in other processes fulfilling their input requirements
The general objective of the project is to generate a system for the reuse and optimisation of water use within a target entity (industrial estate, cooperative, municipality, district, small productive areas, etc.), assisted by a methodology of evaluation and consultancy in the process of implementing an SIH Project.
The main result in this first phase will be the design and implementation of a prototype of an intelligent reuse system based on the knowledge (sensorisation and monitoring) of the uses of water in the entity under study, on the digital capacities of analysis and decision, and on the effective action on different elements to optimise the reuse of this environment, generating a Digital Water Twin (DWT).
