H2iber PROJECT PROGRESS
H2iber Project: Assessment and Management of water resources in renewable H2 projects, is an innovative project that seeks to improve the management of water and water resources in renewable hydrogen projects, through the collection of information, the assessment of the effects of climate change and the design of intelligent and digitised processes.
In this first phase H2iber focuses on the study of water management and water resources in renewable hydrogen projects in the Autonomous Community of Aragon. Once this stage has been completed, it is planned to extend the scope to the entire Iberian Peninsula in two subsequent phases.
From Geoslab, we lead two tasks:
- TASK 3. Development of an AI module associated with water resource forecasting that will allow the analysis and processing of large amounts of data related to the availability and use of water in Aragon until 2030, and use machine learning techniques to predict the amount of water available at a given place and time. Once the state of the art has been reviewed, it has been seen that these are information management systems that depend on very large volumes of data, and very extensive historical data. This is why the introduction of AI in generating simpler searches for users, rather than using AI in the execution of calculations, is valued.
- TASK 4. Development of a prototype of a tool for the assessment of available water resources for hydrogen projects. This prototype will make it possible to analyse the availability and quality of water in different parts of the Aragon region and its suitability for the production of green hydrogen using water electrolysis technology. A general design of the prototype of a cloud application that will allow access to a catalogue of relevant information, in an identified, geolocalised and meta-data-driven manner, has already been carried out.
Both tasks are aimed at facilitating access to available information on the necessary water resources and supporting the planning of renewable H2 projects, with the objective of optimising the use of resources and the results achieved.
