INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF DEHYDRATED FODDER PRODUCTION
OPERATIONAL GROUP ON TRACEABILITY AND CARBON FOOTPRINT OF DEHYDRATED PROTEIN FODDER CROPS
  • Traceability
  • Carbon footprint
  • Digitisation
  • Agrotech

The project aims to provide the dehydrated fodder sector with digital tools to improve the way of working and achieve better results on farms, in the transformation processes and in marketing.

Specifically, the project focuses on monitoring the activities that comprise the entire production chain, measuring their carbon footprint, and, that all of this can be certified through a transparency tool open to national and international markets.

Specific objectives:
✓ To define a comprehensive management system for the entire dehydrated fodder production chain.
✓ To provide the sector with a reliable system for measuring the carbon footprint of dehydrated alfalfa production.
✓ To provide a transparency tool to show international markets the processes carried out at the different stages of dehydrated fodder production.
✓ Liberalise the results of the project through open science, open knowledge, free software, etc. models.
✓ To raise awareness in the sector of the existing technological possibilities and the benefits that can be obtained from the implementation of a traceability and carbon footprint quantification system.

The project will be carried out in two phases:
✓ Phase I: Development of the technological tools that will be the basis for the project results (May 2024 to July 2025).
✓ Phase II: Capture of dehydrated fodder production data and validation of tools (April 2025 to April 2027).

CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027, financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
